Ouch, that hit home! If that's how it is, then I definitely want to head to the beach. But with whom? My girlfriend just left me, my best friend can't come because his girlfriend won't let him, and otherwise things don't look exactly exciting. Everybody has their excuses and obligations.

At that moment a liberating feeling comes over me and I remember: wasn't there something? The coworker from department C10 came back last year from a last-minute vacation in Greece, thrilled, with a new flame. Just yesterday he told me about his wedding plans.

With a gleam in my eye and one burst of words after another, I got all the information I needed from my coworker about last-minute singles trips. He kept slapping his thigh in excitement as he told his story.

I have such an irrepressible urge to pack my suitcase. My destination is already clear: the beach with plenty of sunshine. I'm endlessly grateful to my boss!

At the travel agency, I got right down to business. I explained what I was after. It had to be fast, this very month: a last-minute singles trip was my goal. Somewhere warm, with long sandy beaches and lots of nice people.

I didn't want to travel alone. The experiences of the last few weeks were still too raw. A breakup after more than 10 years. I definitely wanted to have fun among like-minded people. Traveling alone was out of the question for me. I was already feverishly wondering what offers I'd be shown.

I was surprised by how much choice I was still offered. Last minute doesn't mean you can't get great travel deals anymore. Quite the opposite. Each offer was more interesting than the last. I was definitely spoiled for choice!

Last-minute singles trips have quite a lot to offer. The selection of countries and destinations was enormous. The travel agency did everything it could to get me a room at my dream destination. That's what makes traveling fun, and my excitement grew by the minute.

Only one thing was left. Pack the suitcases, and fast, because my ultimate dream vacation starts this weekend. Plenty of sun and endless sandy beaches with people who share the same goal as me: meeting nice people and then seeing what develops.
