Who I am
I'm 32, I live in Hamburg and in recent years I've packed more suitcases than most people do in a lifetime. I prefer to travel alone – and I'm open about it. Not because I can't find anyone to come along, but because I feel freest on the road. That's exactly what I write about here: what it feels like to discover the world as a single.
On Reisen-Fuer-Singles.net I write about what I've experienced myself: nights in a tent on the Portuguese coast, a safari in Namibia, spontaneous last-minute trips to the Mediterranean, and also the questions solo travelers really ask. Where's the best place to go as a single? How do I meet people along the way? And how do I plan a trip together with someone without committing right away?
How it all began
After a few years in the office of a tour operator, I'd had enough of selling other people their dream holiday while sitting at a desk myself. So I booked my first solo trip – two weeks in Andalusia, completely on my own. I was excited, a little nervous and in the end totally in love with that feeling of independence. Travel hasn't let go of me since. I learned that as a single you don't have to wait for anyone to set off, and that the best encounters often only happen on the road.
Those experiences shaped me. And I want to pass them on, because back then I would have loved someone to tell me honestly how travelling as a single really works.
