Traveling Solo Takes Courage

Almost everyone dreams of discovering the world, but not everyone dares to travel solo. It takes courage, but that's exactly why it's worth it. You step out of your comfort zone, break away from your familiar surroundings and do things you wouldn't do with company. Traveling solo is a great idea for that reason alone, because you almost automatically meet new people. And new people mean new experiences, new perspectives, new conversations and discussions. Plus, you don't have to adapt to anyone. You're your own boss, and if you don't like something, you simply move on without having to wait for anyone else. This independence makes you more flexible and lets you experience the things you actually want to experience. Have you always wanted to go ice climbing in northern Sweden in the darkness of the polar night, but all your friends and acquaintances want a beach vacation? Or have you always wanted to go on a shopping trip to New York, but can't find anyone with the time and money for it? Solo travel makes it easy to experience these things anyway, because when you don't have to wait for anyone else and their decisions, you're completely free to choose. The world looks a little different when you're on your own. Maybe a bit more dangerous, but definitely more exciting. You're entirely responsible for your own adventure.

Your Own Adventure
But what is this adventure that awaits you? It's different for everyone, because travel is and remains something very personal that can't simply be summed up in general terms. Still, here are a few ideas to show you how good it can be to travel alone: What have you always wanted to experience but held back on because of who you were with? Because it might have been embarrassing, or simply because your companion wouldn't have enjoyed it? Or what did you always find way too silly and tedious, but still had to go along with every time because of your travel companions? Maybe it's just small things. Staying a little longer in the café and soaking up the atmosphere. Walking into a different shop and browsing as long as you like – or not having to go into all those shops at all, and instead just exploring the city's many streets. Or maybe it's entire trips you've never taken? Even a trip around the world is possible on your own. Traveling solo also means you'll have even more to tell, because nobody was there to steal your great stories before you could tell them. So go ahead, make your very own experiences.
